Would you like to be a Record Breaker?

Would you like your school to take part in a World Record breaking 100 METRE RELAY RACE and at the same time help generate £1000s to aid some of the poorest children in Africa?

All we need to break the record is 802 people ... but we think we can do a lot better than that so we are aiming for 1000 participants!
The event will take place at Meadowbank Sports Arena in Magherafelt on 11 October 2008 and we want YOU to be a part of it!

Background

On the 28th of April 2005 in Cheshire, England, Iain Robinson along with 801 runners broke the World Record for the most participants to run a relay leg in 24 Hours. We think we can beat that, and we also think we can raise a lot of money to help aid our causes in Ethiopia & Tanzania at the same time.

In 2007 over 12,000 Santa's walked the streets of Derry/Londonderry and broke a world record, raising thousands of pounds for each of the sponsored charities, including Children in Crossfire. This was a major record breaking attempt and made the news all over the UK & Ireland. Following on from this extremely successful event we are attempting to break the record for the most number of participants to run a 100m relay in 24 hours. This event will not only help raise funds & awareness for Children in Crossfire but also help promote healthy living and exercise for many of the young people in the UK & Ireland.

Where is it taking Place?

The event will take place in the newly opened Meadowbank Sports Arena in Magherafelt. This arena is the largest of its kind in Europe and boasts an impressive set of facilities including a 400 meter, 6 lane synthetic athletics track which is perfect for our record breaking attempt.

So how will it work?

The idea is simple, each participant will run 100 meters with a baton and then pass that on to the next person. This will continue until everyone has ran or the 24 hours are up.
